The 25th annual Georgia Southern Fall 2016 Commencement Ceremony represented a momentous day as approximately 1,700 of Georgia's best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students received degrees from the University's eight colleges. Approximately 400 graduate degrees were conferred, while around 1,300 undergraduate students received degrees.

Dean's List honors are earned by undergraduate students who carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on the 4.0 scale.

The following students completed courses with exemplary marks and made the Dean's List for the 2016 fall semester at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.

The Entrepreneurship & Innovation Institute (ENI) features graduate and undergraduate students who are poised to make waves in a range of disciplines and industries. Their unlimited potential was on full display at the Personal Elevator Pitch Competition recently hosted by Clayton State University's College of Business. Participants were tasked with putting together a 90-second elevator pitch to communicate their value to potential employers. Three ENI students finished in the top four.

More than 2,450 students graduated from Kennesaw State University, Dec. 13 - 14, 2016 in three fall commencement ceremonies.

The University of Alabama awarded some 2,270 degrees during winter commencement Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. With this graduating class, UA will have awarded more than 257,000 degrees since its founding in 1831 as the state's first public university.

Valdosta State University is proud to announce its Summer 2016 Dean's List. Students who achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional grade point average of 3.00 or higher are recognized by being placed on the Dean's List. Developmental studies, transients, and graduate students are not eligible for Dean's List status.

Georgia State University College of Law Student Trial Lawyers Association team of Ryan Brown (J.D. '17), Lacey Wheeler (J.D. '17), Robert Noens (J.D. '18) and Hunter Rogers (J.D. '18) won the William Daniel Mock Trial Competition held Nov. 19-20 at the Fulton County courthouse. Alison Burleson (J.D. '00) and Alex Galvan (J.D. '14) coached the group. Every summer, the William W. Daniel National Invitational Mock Trial Committee sends hundreds of applications to ABA accredited law schools. Only 18 schools are invited to compete in this well-known competition named in honor of the late Judge William W. Daniel of the Superior Court of Fulton County.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized nearly 200 students for excellence in academics on the Summer 2016 semester Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

These Georgia State University College of Law students provided 398 hours of pro bono service, with distinction. The College of Law's Pro Bono Recognition Program is designed to encourage students to engage in such activities while in law school and thus conduct themselves in accordance with the highest values and standards of the legal profession. The Class of 2016 provided 12,850.1 hours in pro bono service through April 8, 2016.

The Georgia State Student Trial Lawyers Association gives our students an opportunity to gain experience in a courtroom setting through participation in national competitions. The program focuses on criminal and civil trial practice skills and enables members to apply the knowledge they gain in their evidence and litigation courses.

Area residents have been named Howard Scholars at Samford University.

This August, thirteen Georgia Southern University students and faculty member, Lisa Abbott, took their production of "Do Not Open," a student devised piece, to the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. The show was nominated for the Fringe Sustainable Practice Award based on a review of the content of the show and responses to a questionnaire.

Kennesaw State University recently named students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Summer 2016 semester. The Kennesaw State students were honored by Interim President Houston D. Davis for earning top marks.

The Georgia State University International Education Fee (IEF) Study Abroad Scholarship, initiated in 2004, is funded by the international education student fee.

On May 6 and 7, Georgia Southern University held its annual spring commencement ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students at Hanner Fieldhouse and Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Interim University President Jean E. Bartels, Ph.D., R.N., conferred more than 3,300 doctoral, master's, specialist and bachelor's degrees from the University's eight colleges during two separate ceremonies.
